Heritage sarees are often named after the region they originate from, and Pochampally Sarees are no exception! Named after a small town Pochampally near Hyderabad, Pochampally sarees have very unique motifs and distinctive style. The patterns on each saree are pre fixed, and then resist dyed and interlaced. This method then yields the distinctive Ikat designs. Creating Ikat sarees requires precision and skill and the technique is believed to have originated from Chirala and brought to the town of Pochampally, where it was subsequently honed and perfected, to give us a much loved garment today.
